Financial Accountant Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at the City of Playford. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of optimal and sustainable organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial systems administration, including maintenance of period control, natural account and cost centre codes, and accessing financial systems report distribution.
  • Manage the month end accounting process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, providing insights and recommendations to inform business decisions.
  • Coordinate the annual external audit process, undertaking reviews of finance-governed policies and procedures.
  • Prepare BAS, FBT, and ABS returns, meeting relevant timeframes and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and implementing effective solutions.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA and/or CA qualifications, or relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in financial systems management, accounting functions, and GST, PAYG, FBT payment and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise initiative and judgement in decision making.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Excel skills and application of accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
