Job Overview

We are seeking an accomplished software professional to fill the position of Support Engineer.

This role will involve working in a dynamic and exciting engineering environment, focusing on Linux-based infrastructure and applications. You will be responsible for resolving complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open-source software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in the open-source stack requiring upstream bug fixes
  • Collaborate with Field, Support, and product engineering teams to drive issues to resolution
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream communities for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers and participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
  • Maintain clear, technical, and concise communications
  • Work from home and travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events, and conferences

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you should have a strong academic record, a background in computer science, STEM, or similar fields, and experience with Linux and open-source software. Additionally, you should have programming skills in at least one language such as Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
