Job Overview

This role is critical in providing expert credit support to business relationship managers. It involves managing a portfolio of high-value, complex customer connections and ensuring the highest standards of credit quality.

Credit Risk Management
  • Ensure that all credit proposals across the wholesale portfolio meet the required standards through proper sanctioning, sampling, and application of best practice.
  • Develop and implement effective credit policies and processes. Contribute to business and credit policy development.
  • Exercise personal judgement and discretion in evaluating and approving/declining credit proposals.
  • Maximize value by challenging pricing and ensuring conformance to governance, compliance, and lending portfolio controls.
  • Maintain robust control over portfolio information and ensure reports are produced and reviewed by key stakeholders.
Business Leadership
  • Develop a strong network of internal contacts and external professionals to drive business performance.
  • Set targets and challenges, and provide effective performance management information.
  • Coach and support team members in their technical development, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Adeptly adopt change initiatives to improve processes and quality.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage risks and risk events relevant to the role.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years banking experience with 5 years commercial and/or corporate credit or finance experience.
  • Proven success in a customer-facing role dealing with financially distressed clients.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of credit and risk management principles, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
