Job Overview

This is a challenging full-time role with the AFP that involves leading electronic surveillance data analysis to support law enforcement operations.

The Officer in Charge of Electronic Surveillance Analysis Teams will be responsible for providing technical direction, management, coordination, and governance to data analytics services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical leadership in ensuring the AFP has innovative yet secure data analysis practices to meet policing needs.
  • Ensuring all collected data is handled in accordance with data governance, evidential, statutory, and policy requirements.
  • Collaborating across national and regional resources to support holistic data capability deployment.

The OIC will also engage with internal and external partners to enhance data sources and technologies.

They will communicate technically complex information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Formal tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills and experience in data analytics.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading data analysts.
  • Strong technical leadership, teamwork, and people management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

You must also be an Australian citizen with a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
