Key Role: EALD Teacher

This critical position plays a pivotal role within the school team, supporting classroom teachers and curriculum leaders to develop effective strategies for addressing the learning needs of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) students.

The successful candidate will have expertise in devising and implementing targeted responses to support the academic progress and well-being of EALD students. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering tailored learning programs to enhance the English language and literacy skills of identified EALD students.
  • Utilising the EALD Learning Progression and ESL Scales to inform teaching practices and plan engaging English language learning activities.
  • Mentoring, monitoring, and actively engaging with EALD students to promote their English language development, academic performance, and overall wellbeing.
  • Tailoring educational approaches to meet the unique language needs and abilities of each student.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to support the school's strategic focus on learning and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers or the EAL/D Elaborations.
  • Current NESA Accreditation.
  • A valid NSW Working with Children Check number.
  • Anaphylaxis training completion or plans to do so.
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate.
