Compliance & Payroll Expert Specialist

This role focuses on payroll system implementation and process improvements, ensuring legislative compliance and supporting the delivery of payroll-related projects. The ideal candidate will have specialist payroll expertise and project delivery skills to cover both business as usual payroll activities and key project milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Act as payroll subject matter expert in the implementation of HRIS with integration to payroll systems.
  • Lead user acceptance testing, data migration and user training for the HRIS implementation.
  • Participate in system design, configuration and testing to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy for time and attendance systems.
  • Recommend workflow enhancements and automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure new processes and systems embed compliance.
Compliance
  • Provide payroll subject matter expertise to complex compliance and process improvement projects.
  • Support governance, controls and reporting framework development.
  • Identify and resolve system or process gaps impacting payroll compliance with stakeholders.
BAU Payroll Support
  • Assist in data validation, reporting and reconciliation tasks to support ongoing payroll accuracy.
  • Contribute to business as usual payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with legislation and awards.
About You
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in payroll, human resources or industrial relations.
  • End-to-end payroll processing expertise; recent involvement in payroll system implementation or integration projects; strong understanding of Australian industrial relations.
  • A diploma in payroll, human resources or law is preferred, though equivalent industry experience is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in SAP and SuccessFactors is highly regarded, with demonstrated capabilities in UAT, data migration validation and payroll reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities in a project environment.
