Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our team at Newton Moore Senior High School. As a Science Specialist School, we deliver an extraordinary science program, and this role plays a crucial part in its success.
Key Responsibilities- Preparing chemicals, equipment, and materials for science experiments and lessons
- Designing and constructing teaching aids to support curriculum requirements
- Collecting and caring for living organisms, including maintaining an Aquaculture and Environmental Centre and an Engineering Laboratory
- Managing laboratory stocks, including ordering supplies and conducting annual stock-takes
- Ensuring the preparation areas and laboratories are safe and productive learning environments for staff and students
- Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements
- Demonstrated good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
