We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our team at Newton Moore Senior High School. As a Science Specialist School, this role plays a crucial part in delivering an exceptional science program.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare chemicals, equipment, and materials for science experiments and lessons.
- Design and construct teaching aids to support curriculum requirements.
- Collect and care for living organisms, including maintaining an Aquaculture and Environmental Centre and an Engineering Laboratory.
- Manage laboratory stocks, including ordering supplies, liaising with suppliers, and conducting annual stock-takes.
- Ensure the preparation areas and laboratories are safe and productive learning environments for staff and students.
- Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
- Demonstrated good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
