Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Defense Attorney to provide representation for individuals charged with drug possession offenses in courts of limited jurisdiction. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality defense services to indigent clients, ensuring their rights are protected and their interests are represented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation and representation services for individuals facing drug possession or public use charges in courts of limited jurisdiction.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their cases, provide guidance, and represent their interests in court.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of cases to develop effective defense strategies.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, judges, and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and court procedures to provide the highest level of representation.
Requirements
  • Licensed member in good standing with the Washington State Bar.
  • At least 2 years of criminal defense practice in Washington state.
  • Knowledge of Washington State criminal law and procedure.
  • Ability to meet Washington State Supreme Court Standards for Indigent Defense.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience practicing law as a public defense attorney.
  • Experience working with people from marginalized communities.
  • Experience in the court for which you are interested.
