About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team on a 12-month contract. Based in Melbourne, this role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in sample preparation and plant operations.
As a Laboratory Technician specializing in Bulk Sample Preparation, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for handling both large and small bulk mineral samples. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all processes are carried out with precision, consistency, and compliance with strict procedural guidelines. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and reliability of laboratory results, supporting broader operational objectives in the mining industry.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate specialized equipment for sample preparation; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedural guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and workspaces to prevent cross-contamination.
- Verify and cross-check sample numbers meticulously to ensure alignment with documentation.
- Manage multiple batches of samples efficiently while meeting timeframes.
- Collaborate with team members and take ownership of individual tasks, demonstrating adaptability.
This role is suitable for candidates with experience in laboratory sampling or plant operations. A Certificate 4 qualification is advantageous but not mandatory. Holding a current forklift license will be highly regarded.
Key Requirements:
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high accuracy in measurements and sample processing.
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflows across multiple sample batches.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to maintaining safety standards at all times.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- A forklift truck license is highly desirable.
- Current right to work in Australia is mandatory.
