Job Overview

This role is a senior leadership position that oversees the safe and efficient completion of water well drilling projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of drillers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide safety leadership and assist team members in risk assessments, job safety analysis, and critical control verifications.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in line with relevant legislation, standards, work practices, and awards.
  • Develop team members through coaching and mentoring, addressing performance and conduct issues as needed.
  • Coordinate and allocate work to meet drilling plans and run rates while maintaining safety compliance requirements.
  • Maintain mechanical availability of assets through basic maintenance, reporting processes, and prestart and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Liaise with project leaders regarding drilling program progress and provide updates on team performance.
  • Conduct regular reviews of employee performance in line with organizational strategy and development goals.
  • Participate in drilling contractor toolbox meetings and geology safety meetings to ensure effective communication and feedback.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in water well drilling at a supervisory level, preferably with a proven track record of success.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Cert IV in Drilling Operations, or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to drive manual vehicles and possess a valid driver's license.
  • HR License and Water Well License required.
  • Trainer and Assessor certification, with experience in training and assessing employees.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, project leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain an Australian National Police Clearance and pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including a Drug and Alcohol Screen.
