Systems Administrator Role

This role involves the management and maintenance of systems to ensure their availability in accordance with customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Systems Administrator will be responsible for installing operating system patches, software upgrades, and software installations. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.

  • Manage and progress incident tickets/assigned tasks to completion in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy new solutions
  • Manage databases
  • Provide Network Systems administration assistance
  • Analyse and troubleshoot faults and make recommendations for the most effective course of action
  • Provide support to other internal teams
  • Proactively monitor servers and related infrastructure
  • Support patching of critical servers and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot network problems and outages; maintain network cabling including installation
  • Configure and install equipment
  • Plan, document, communicate, and execute planned changes through the change management process
  • Develop procedural and user documentation
  • Liaise with and manage third-party providers of systems as required
  • Provide end-user training on systems as required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualified or equivalent in Information Technology or a related discipline
  • Industry certification for Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMware, and/or Networking is desirable
  • 5 years of experience in a systems administration role, preferably in a medium-to-large IT environment
  • Server networking skills such as TCP/IP, Cisco networking
  • Linux Red Hat experience
  • Experience hosting database environments
  • Experience providing high availability services
  • Experience supporting and building server operating systems
