Windows Desktop Specialist

The role involves leading the departments digital transformation and supporting ICT-enabled enterprise projects. Within this team, the ICT Operations Branch manages ICT infrastructure, networks, end-user platforms, cloud services, and ICT operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, maintain, and support:
    • Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE), desktop software, and corporate device configurations (desktop/iOS)
    • Enterprise messaging and collaboration (Exchange, Teams)
    • Enterprise remote access (VDI and VPN)
    • Application packaging and deployment
  • Manage automated patching processes
  • Provide expert technical advice across ICT platforms in governance and service management forums
  • Deliver Level 3 support for escalated complex technical issues
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure integration and compliance
  • Develop SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge base resources
  • Support project planning and delivery for upgrades, migrations, and rollouts
  • Monitor system performance and proactively ensure reliability and scalability
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Max 5000 characters total in one-page pitch (individual responses not required)
  • Essential Skills:
    • Experience/knowledge of Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise (M365 Pro Plus), including servicing, update channels, and M365 licensing
    • Expert knowledge of Windows 11, Intune, and Group Policy configuration (including Advanced Group Policy Management)
    • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) / Mobile Access Management (MAM) through Intune
    • MECM (SCCM) and Intune skills including SOE creation/maintenance, application packaging, and patching
    • Strong experience in writing technical documentation including SOPs and design documentation
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
    • Experience with Australian Government IT Cyber Security processes including ISM, Essential 8, and ACSC hardening guides
