Reef Management Leader

This leadership role demands a profound understanding of the intricate relationship between Traditional Owners and the Great Barrier Reef.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating closely with Traditional Owners, remote communities, corporations, and Indigenous organisations to apply principles of cultural authority, traditional lore, and customs for managing Country.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a multi-disciplinary team in delivering high-quality outcomes, meeting deadlines, and achieving organisational objectives.
  • Provide high-level advice to senior executives on strategic and operational delivery of Reef Authority programs related to Traditional Owners.
  • Negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing high-quality briefs, reports, and submissions.
  • Maintain high-level relationships with Australian and Queensland government agencies, Traditional Owners, and Marine Park users and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, have excellent attention to detail, and remain composed under pressure. They will also represent the Reef Authority at internal and external forums and negotiate sensitively on complex matters.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

Experience working with Indigenous Australians and culturally sensitive issues;
