Job Title: Medical Laboratory Specialist

NSW Health Pathology is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Anatomical Pathology Department at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. In this specialized role, you will work as part of a dedicated team, utilizing your exceptional skills and knowledge to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-analytical and cut-up aspects of anatomical pathology
  • Triaging, direct transfer, and dissection of specimens
  • Supervising staff working in specimen reception and cut-up areas
  • Ensuring quality control and maintaining accurate records

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Postgraduate study in specimen dissection and/or extensive experience in non-complex and complex specimen dissection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong initiative and self-directed mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
