Job Description:

Are you a motivated and caring individual with experience in exercise prescription and physiological testing? Do you have a passion for helping older adults maintain their strength, balance, and mobility?

As a Group Exercise Instructor/Exercise Scientist, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering exercise-based strength and balance programs to older adults in the Illawarra region. Your expertise will help participants achieve improved physical function, reduced falls risk, and enhanced overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prescribe and deliver exercise programs tailored to individual needs
  • Conduct one-hour group exercise classes, incorporating engaging exercises and activities
  • Perform regular physiological testing to monitor participant progress
  • Modify exercises or group sessions to accommodate varying capabilities
  • Maintain accurate records of participant sessions and attendance
  • Complete health and safety checks of host facilities
  • Represent the organization at promotional events and community outreach initiatives

Requirements:

  • Group Exercise Instructor qualification or Bachelor degree in Exercise Science
  • Current AUSactive and/or ESSA Registration
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to own vehicle

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Group Exercise Instructor certification (or equivalent)
  • Bachelor degree in Exercise Science (or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Exercise Science or related field
  • Experience working with older adults or vulnerable populations
