Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Field Engineer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. As a Mechanical Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpretation and Application of Mechanical Design Drawings
    • Interpret mechanical design drawings, codes, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Apply knowledge of mechanical operations to ensure safe and efficient execution of field engineering activities.
  • Constructability Reviews and Design Issue Coordination
    • Conduct constructability reviews to identify potential design issues related to mechanical equipment installation, maintenance, and testing.
    • Coordinate with design teams to resolve design issues and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Material Management and Inspection
    • Review material receiving reports and perform material receiving inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Work with engineering and procurement teams to ensure that design documents, drawings, and vendor manuals are available on site prior to equipment receipt.
  • Field Engineering Activities
    • Issue Field Material Requisitions (FMRs) for the purchase of permanent plant materials.
    • Coordinate with vendor technical advisors as required.
    • Perform other duties as required by the Mechanical Lead Field Engineer.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • University/B.S degree in a relevant engineering discipline (desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated).
    • 3-5 years minimum construction/field engineering experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety program.
    • Working knowledge of mechanical operations and internationally accepted mechanical codes and standards (e.g., Australian Codes and Standards, ASME).
    • Direct hire experience, preferably in a lump-sum environment.
    • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
    • Experience in LNG facilities is preferred.
    • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks, or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
    • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
    • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Working Conditions

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include:

  • Extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site.
  • Climbing ladders and working at heights from work platforms, including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
  • Use of personal fall arrest equipment.
  • Walking and working on uneven surfaces.
  • Variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.).
  • Work in inclement weather.
  • Some lifting may be required.
Additional Information

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
