Job Title: Senior Technical Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Officer to lead our Toolroom and Studio team at the UNSW School of Art & Design. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support and guidance to staff and students, while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Toolroom, Ceramic and Jewellery Studios, and associated facilities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff and students, including training and induction programs.
  • Liaise with academic staff to ensure the effective delivery of course work and research projects.
  • Coordinate the training of permanent and casual staff, as well as the engagement of PEP students and volunteers.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facilities, including the maintenance of equipment and the implementation of safety protocols.
Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary degree and extensive experience in a technical or fabrication role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Superior ability to work independently and lead a diverse team, with a strong commitment to customer service and a client-centric approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, work consistently within busy schedules, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
