As a Meat Department Assistant at Costco Wholesale, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in the meat department. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the daily operations of the department, maintaining operational standards, and delivering exceptional member service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect and assemble equipment during department setup.
• Work display case and rotate merchandise to high standards.
• Process large quantities of product using automatic wrapping machine.
• Follow all safety procedures.
• Label merchandise, and put wrapped and labelled merchandise in display case.
• Operate meat grinder. Follow proper department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished merchandise.
• Clean and sanitize area throughout the day. Perform duties to comply with health code.
• Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required.
• Comply with the 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification and all Safety Policies required by the warehouse and the department.
• Assist in other departments for the warehouse as necessary.
• Provide and ensure prompt and courteous service to members, employees and vendors.
Requirements:
• Communication - Articulate information in a way that can be easily understood by employees and members. Actively listen to fellow employees, members and managers.
• Member Service - Exhibit a professional demeanor toward others. Ability to identify problems, find solutions and make sound decisions that reflect Costco's Code of Ethics.
• Self-Motivated - Well-organized and able to prioritize, multi-task and adhere to deadlines while working efficiently and independently.
• Team Player - Willingness to perform tasks assigned by supervisors and to assist others as needed.
• Flexibility - Adjust positively to change in direction or assignment. Willingness and ability to comply with new programs, methods, practices and procedures.
• Please note that this position is a cleaning/wrapping position. Ability to lift heavy items routinely and ability to work closing shift is essential.
Qualifications:
• Experience - Food handling experience preferred.
• Knowledge/Skills: Customer service or comparable.
