Job Opportunity

As a Census Operations Manager, your role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality field operations in regional and remote areas. Utilizing local knowledge and connections, you will coordinate and manage the operations in your area of responsibility.

  • Recruit, train, and lead a small team of field staff.
  • Work remotely and/or travel to various work areas as required.
  • Develop, update, and review operational plans for your area of responsibility.
  • Establish strong relationships with the community, fostering networks and maintaining those connections.
  • Promote participation in the Census within the community.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Census and ABS staff.
Key Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A deep understanding of and ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Sound local area knowledge and the ability to navigate maps.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with people in the workplace and community.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks with limited guidance, and make informed decisions.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting.
  • Experience leading or managing teams, including remote teams, in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
