Respiratory Medicine Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Respiratory Medicine specialist to join our team in Dubbo, New South Wales.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver comprehensive respiratory services to both inpatients and outpatients at our hospital, with a focus on contemporary, evidence-based care.

This is a unique chance to be part of a developing service that currently includes two full-time Respiratory Physicians, one full-time Respiratory Scientist, and one Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory consultations and general medicine on-call
  • Perform and supervise procedures including bronchoscopy and intercostal chest drain insertion
  • Manage patients requiring acute non-invasive ventilation
  • Deliver outpatient respiratory clinics
  • Supervise and train junior doctors, registrars, and medical students
  • Engage in quality improvement, education, and safety initiatives
  • Lead and contribute to regular departmental meetings and hospital Grand Rounds
  • Be involved in service development and departmental leadership

Requirements:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), or eligibility via specialist pathway
  • Recent experience in Respiratory Medicine aligned with service needs
  • Strong procedural skills in bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to teaching, education, quality improvement, and patient-centred care
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call roster and contribute to broader hospital activities
