Job Description

The Product Specialist will drive business revenue and profit through strategic supplier management and product ranging for the allocated Minor Category.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drive a strategic selection approach of business partners to source and negotiate product range, price and trading terms
  • Create strategic plans, marketing programs and pricing that deliver category growth
  • Manage and communicate supplier non-conformances and corrective actions activities
  • Identify and communicate potential cost reduction/sourcing opportunities
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure online presence maximizing basket size value
  • Develop a thorough strategic plan to drive value for your category based on an understanding of business & customer needs, the supply market, spend baseline and evolution, benchmarking, price availability, and supply chain logistics

Requirements

The ideal applicant will possess the following:

  • Previous role of Category Assistant or similar
  • Exposure to supply chain negotiations and create strategic plans that deliver on category growth
  • Self-sufficient, autonomous and driven by managing your own piece of business
  • Extremely savvy and commercially aware
  • Organised and excellent time management
  • Strategically minded and forward thinking
  • Autonomous and self-sufficient
  • Analytical and precise
  • Strong business acumen combined with commercial awareness
  • Understanding of supply chain
  • Eye for detail
  • Accountable with a positive attitude
