As an Aircraft Armament Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and testing aircraft armament systems, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components
  • Preparing and loading air-launched munitions
  • Performing aircraft launch and recovery duties
  • Inspecting, removing, and installing aircraft components
  • Working with explosives and explosive ordnance
  • Diagnosing faults and performing repairs
  • Preparing and using aircraft support equipment

With further training, you may also have the opportunity to become a qualified Demolition of Explosives Operator, where you will safely dispose of unexploded or malfunctioned weapons/munitions and pyrotechnics.

This is a highly rewarding and specialized career that is integral to the Australian Defence Force. If you are good with your hands, enjoy mechanical/electrical hobbies, and work well in a team, you will thrive in this role.

In the Australian Defence Force, this role is known as Aircraft Armament Technician (ARMTECH).
