Quality and Safety Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Quality and Safety Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality systems in the perioperative suite complement the strategic direction, daily operational processes, budget, business direction, and delivery of clinical care.

As a Quality and Safety Officer, your main duties will include assisting in and supporting a hospital-wide quality improvement program that promotes an integrated system of patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management. You will also actively participate in identification and management of risks within the Perioperative Suite, deliver education and engage with staff to provide a common understanding of the NSQHS Standards, and actively participate in quality improvement and risk management activities.

In addition, you will participate and lead internal investigations and audits relating to incidents, complaints, and development of processes. You will also provide administration and coordination support in the management and maintenance of controlled documents across the organisation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a registered nurse
  • A thorough understanding of the NSQHS Standards
  • An understanding of principles of quality improvement and risk management
  • Skills in investigation and report writing with a keen eye for detail
  • High level communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • A desire to work with a team focused on exceptional quality outcomes and change management
