
Payroll Operations Specialist

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Payroll Coordinator to play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing for employees across the agency.
This key position involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in payroll operations, and serving as the primary point of contact between finance and the outsourced payroll provider.
- Coordinate fortnightly end-to-end payroll processes, including new hires, terminations, leave entitlements, and salary adjustments by liaising with relevant teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency procedures.
- Provide expert guidance and resolution on complex payroll queries, acting as the first point of escalation.
- Ensure all payroll processing events are completed on time and pays are processed according to schedule.
- Maintain employee payroll records in accordance with agency workflows and business processes, collaborating with relevant teams as needed.
- Apply relevant legislation, Awards, enterprise agreements, and policies to support payroll operations.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from staff and management in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the reconciliation of payroll accounts and preparation of reports for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support the implementation, upgrades, or changes to the payroll system.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of payroll procedures and guidelines.
- Identify and escalate payroll issues or discrepancies to senior staff as required.
