Dispatch Team Leader Role

This is an opportunity to lead a team and drive efficient dispatch operations in a dynamic organization.

  • The Dispatch Team Leader will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the dispatch team, supporting operational goals. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Championing a robust Safety culture throughout all daily activities, ensuring compliance and proactive risk management.

  2. Leading and motivating a team of dispatch operators to achieve high performance and meet daily KPIs.

  3. Overseeing order movements to ensure efficient and timely dispatch of export shipments with accurate documentation.

  4. Approving freight invoices promptly and managing consumables ordering.

  5. Collaborating with departments to address customer enquiries, freight quotes, and scheduling.

  6. Maintaining controls to enhance team efficiency, including backorders and undelivered stock.

  7. Identifying procedural gaps and implementing corrective actions to mitigate business risks.

  8. Conducting regular staff performance reviews, providing feedback, and developing talent pathways.

  9. Supporting recruitment, roster management, leave approvals, and timesheet verification for workers.

  10. Driving dispatch KPI's focused on shipment accuracy and waste reduction.

  11. Ensuring strict adherence to Quality, Environment, Health and Safety policies.

  12. Planning team rostering and rotations based on training and operational requirements.

  13. Facilitating conflict resolution and technical guidance across departments.

  14. Participating in problem-solving and quality assurance.

  15. Ensuring dispatch systems comply with policy guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will require proven experience managing teams in a dispatch or logistics environment. You will also need strong leadership skills with emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience, and adaptability.

Apart from the specific duties mentioned above, the key qualities required for this position are exceptional time management, attention to detail, and organisational skills, as well as advanced verbal and written communication skills.
