Therapeutic Residential Care Specialist

The role involves providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people with complex needs. As a Therapeutic Residential Care Specialist, you will act as the primary carer, offering consistency, structure, and a sense of being valued. You will provide hands-on therapeutic support, helping children and young people navigate challenging emotions, build healthy relationships, and develop skills to thrive in life.

Your responsibilities will include facilitating opportunities for learning, recreation, and community engagement. You will contribute to maintaining a comfortable, safe, and well-organized home environment, from meal planning and preparation to household upkeep.

Requirements
  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or other similar/relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Completion of, or willingness to complete, the following mandatory units of competency:
    • CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma-informed care.
    • CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care.
    • CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour.
    • CHCPRT010 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs.
  • A Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI 7) certification or willingness to upgrade to TCI 7 if a lower-level TCI certification is currently held.
  • Willingness to undertake before employment and maintain valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificates.
  • A current Drivers Licence.
