Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate to join our Financing & Advisory Group in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the origination and execution of structured finance transactions across various industries, including Mining, Metals, and related sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, customize, and maintain financial models supporting advisory mandates, including creating and running financial scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Interrogate the financial model for financing mandates, including creating and running sensitivities and checking integrity.
  • Review and supervise financial modeling tasks undertaken by junior staff, and complete more complex modeling tasks where required.
  • Stay abreast of developments across sectors, particularly Mining & Metals finance, as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market.
  • Provide day-to-day transaction support, including structuring, pricing, preparing credit applications, undertaking detailed financial analyses and due diligence analyses, and assisting the deal team leader to provide best-in-class lending and advisory services to the client base.
  • Respect all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements in relation to the execution of advisory & lending transactions.
  • Manage internal processes relating to the arranging and advisory business, including updating databases, credit application writing, and completing relevant internal system-based processes.
  • Identify potential marketing opportunities and prepare pitch material, including reviewing feasibility studies and detailed analysis of financial models.
  • Establish a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients.
  • Supervise and develop junior team members, including appropriate delegation and review of tasks suitable to their skills and experience, while maintaining a high quality of overall team execution.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law) or a professional financial qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualifications considered favorably.
  • Experience in Mining & Metals finance and sector knowledge, and/or another structured finance environment utilizing similar tools, processes, and procedures will also be favorably considered.
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, including strong financial modeling skills.
  • Experience in generating pitch material that is clear, structured, compelling, and comprehensive in addressing clients' needs.
  • Strong numerical skills with an advanced understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and cash flows.
