External Communications Specialist Job Description:

The role of External Communications Specialist is to lead the overall corporate communications strategy, encompassing public relations and media relations, as well as crisis communications.

About the Role:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that showcases the company's expertise and enhances its reputation.\
  • Act as the primary point of contact for inbound media inquiries and external communications.\
  • Manage crisis and issues management by protecting the company's reputation and minimizing negative impact; preparing press releases, talking points, and collaborating with external PR agencies.\
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to define key messages that support the company's external communications and identify suitable channels and spokespersons.\
  • Utilize the company's external communications strategy to maximize opportunities for brand growth, client engagement, and revenue enhancement, while aligning with global marketing objectives.\
  • Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders, ensuring the company's reputation is managed effectively, with discretion and good judgment applied in complex communications situations.\
  • Manage executive presence through external channels, including media, thought leadership, and speaking engagements.\
  • Contribute to the global PR & communications team, representing the regional office and ensuring a two-way flow of activity and content, with discretion in selecting initiatives for inclusion in the regional strategy.\
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed about content development, correct approval processes are followed (including legal and compliance where required) and internal approvals are complete prior to external publishing.\

    • Minimum 5+ years of experience as an external communications leader, preferably within a B2B or consulting business. Financial services experience will be advantageous.\
    • Strong public relations, crisis communications, and communications strategy experience.\
    • Ability to provide strategic counsel to leadership and collaborate with the Pacific Leadership Team.\
    • Discipline and ability to work independently to drive the right business outcomes in a timely manner.\
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact in a team environment with all levels of employees, including senior management.\
    • Proven ability to influence and serve as a strategic thinker to senior leadership.\
