Flow Cytometry Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill a challenging position as a Flow Cytometry Specialist.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To prepare PBMC samples and perform peptide stimulation protocols, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • To stain samples for immunophenotyping and flow cytometry data acquisition, utilizing advanced technologies and techniques.
  • To operate spectral and conventional flow cytometers and manage data collection using specialized software tools.
  • To analyze flow cytometry data using various software tools, identifying patterns and trends that inform key research decisions.
  • To assist facility and research staff in the flow cytometry and imaging facility as required, providing support and guidance where needed.
  • To maintain lab inventory, restock supplies, and ensure regular maintenance and cleanliness of the flow cytometry facility and clinical laboratory.
  • To monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and carry out routine maintenance in the flow cytometry facility, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • To conduct work in accordance with established accreditation and quality management systems, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • To follow and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring compliance and consistency in all aspects of the role.
  • To ensure the proper collection, management, and storage of scientific data in compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
  • To model and promote excellence and integrity, adhering to the highest quality and ethical standards in all interactions and activities.
  • To comply with relevant legislative requirements and institute policies and procedures, prioritizing safety and well-being in all aspects of the role.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent, with a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, or related fields.
  • Ability to work outside of ordinary hours for two days per week, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in preparing samples for flow cytometry assays, and sample staining for immunophenotyping, showcasing technical expertise and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to work with and adapt to advanced technologies, staying up-to-date with emerging trends and innovations.
  • Experience in immunology and/or cell biology, with a solid understanding of relevant principles and concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and collaboration.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safe work practices and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
