About the Role

Catholic Education Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Inclusive Education Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our education community, you will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive educational environment where every student has the potential to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement inclusive education practices and processes that promote access to all learning areas across Years 7 to 12 curriculum spaces.
  • Lead a team of Classroom Support Assistants, guiding them in the prescribed practices of the College and providing direct instruction and feedback as required.
  • Demonstrate curriculum leadership within the College by developing effective programs of study, interventions, and enrichments that are based on principles of inclusivity and equity.
  • Utilize data to track student progress and development and assess the effectiveness of inclusive education strategies.
  • Build and maintain a deep professional knowledge about the compliance aspects affecting inclusion within the College and the current priorities in research within this area.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Coordinators, Padua Head of Campus, and St Peter's Head of Campus to support students with Personalised Learning Plans.
  • Work with and support classroom teachers to enable them to respond appropriately to individual circumstances and situations.
  • Work with relevant staff and other members of the community to manage departmental processes, such as staff and student allocations, excursions, and the purchase of resources.
  • Ensure effective administrative processes in the department, including holding productive meetings and maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) and Working with Children's Check (WWCC) registrations
  • Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation and/or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) accreditation
Selection Criteria
  1. A comprehensive understanding of Catalyst initiatives and High Impact Teaching Practices and the need to provide appropriate support and feedback to teaching staff.
  2. A thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organize, select, and design content for effective teaching and learning within the classroom and across the school.
  3. Demonstrated capability to coordinate a teaching team effectively, supervise staff across different subject areas, promote their own and the department's professional development, and work with staff to effect change.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, including high-level mediation and conflict resolution skills and interpersonal skills to build community.
  5. The ability to exercise sound judgment, including dealing with confidential matters.
