Principal Project Officer Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a state government team as a Principal Project Officer, working with stakeholders to stimulate the economy and create jobs through private sector investment in Queensland.

The role involves engaging across government and with the private sector to attract and support high-value investments, by assessing commercial and economic merits of proposals and their alignment with the Sovereign Industry Development Fund (SIDF).

  • Key responsibilities include preparing and coordinating input into assessments of investment proposals, applying commercial acumen and understanding economic development drivers, engaging with stakeholders to identify opportunities, and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Additionally, you will support departmental management in negotiations with key stakeholders, identify and analyse current economic trends, prepare briefing notes and reports, and develop investment business cases.

Requirements for the role include demonstrated commercial acumen, research and analysis skills, ability to interpret private sector proposals, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of effectively engaging stakeholders at various levels.
