About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a dedicated and reliable Researcher to join our team at the ADF Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute (ADFMIDI).

As a Researcher, you will be responsible for undertaking laboratory and office-based work, including antimalarial drug analysis using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS).

You will maintain procedures and documentation for quality assurance programs to fulfill National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation requirements for drug analysis.

Additionally, you will undertake and coordinate animal technicians in in vivo tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy assessment of new antimalarial candidates using animal models such as mice in accordance with the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes.


About Our Team

The Department of Drug Evaluation at ADFMIDI provides technical advice to Defence on vector-borne diseases (VBDs) of military importance, such as malaria and dengue.

Our team performs research into VBDs intervention methods, including antimalarial drugs and vaccines, to protect Australian Defence Force personnel from vector-borne infections.

We are a dynamic research team working with national and international collaborators to research infectious diseases of military importance.


Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will possess relevant experience in LCMS, malaria, and/or other infectious diseases and small animal research.

You will have knowledge and exposure to quality assurance programs and be multi-skilled in various laboratory procedures.

Excellent record-keeping and report-writing skills are essential, as well as the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
