Job Description:

The Family Violence Crisis Specialist plays a vital role in the Victorian state-wide family violence service, providing specialist first response to victim-survivors seeking safety from family violence.

This position involves working closely with client groups who have experienced trauma and are at risk of further harm due to family violence. The successful candidate will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment.

The primary focus of this role is to provide specialist first response services to clients at risk of harm. This includes assessing and responding to family violence risk within the MARAM framework.

  • Assessing and responding to family violence risk
  • Providing information, advice, and consultation for victim survivors and their families or service providers
  • Contribution to project activities improving statewide family violence crisis response services
Key Responsibilities:
  • Telephone-based family violence crisis intervention for clients at serious risk of harm due to family violence
  • Provision of written reports and documentation as required
  • Maintenance and development of theoretical knowledge and practice wisdom in family/domestic violence, feminist theory, intersectional and trauma-informed practice
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in the specialist family violence sector or working with those impacted by domestic, family, and sexual violence
  • Understanding of contemporary family violence practice, including the gendered nature of violence and social justice principles
