Role Overview
In this position, reporting to the Thermal Operations Manager, you will utilize your extensive knowledge and experience in power generation to provide both operational and strategic leadership for the power station facility. As the Operations Supervisor, you will lead a skilled team of four Operations and Maintenance Technicians and oversee the daily activities of subcontractors on site. Your leadership capabilities and prior experience in site and operations management within thermal power generation are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring plant performance and achieving business objectives, including reliability, budget adherence, risk management, compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Key duties include:

  • Leading Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives on site.
  • Planning and executing the facility's Asset Management Plan.
  • Managing plant safety, performance, and reliability to meet business goals.
  • Developing site team capabilities and supporting their growth.
  • Enhancing team performance through engagement and collaboration.
  • Building and maintaining relationships across the organization and industry.
  • Supervising and participating in the operations and maintenance of the facility.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in operations management and site supervision, overseeing all facets of power plant operations, maintenance, and asset management. You will set high performance standards for yourself and your team, taking accountability for completing tasks effectively.

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 5 years of Asset Management experience.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and change management skills.
  • Operational management experience in power generation (5-10 years in roles such as plant manager, site supervisor, or maintenance manager).
  • Familiarity with the National Electricity Market (NEM) and industry regulations.
  • Experience in managing WHS/HSE compliance.
  • Ability to lead and direct Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Proficiency in communicating and reporting to broader operations and management teams.
  • Experience in monitoring power generation systems and taking corrective actions.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards on site.
  • Capability to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Experience in preparing operational budgets.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess:

  • A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering, or relevant trade qualifications with significant experience in power generation.
  • A valid C Class Driver's License and the right to work in Australia.
  • Additional qualifications in Business Management, Work Health and Safety, or Project Management are desirable.
