Responsibilities include

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components onboard commercial and defense vessels, including lighting, navigation, propulsion, and communication systems.
  • Interpreting and working from technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate and efficient electrical installations.
  • Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault-finding on electrical equipment, ensuring timely and effective repairs.
  • Installing and connecting power distribution boards, control panels, and circuit protection devices, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
  • Collaborating with engineering, mechanical, and shipbuilding teams to support integrated system installations and commissioning activities.
  • Adhering to WHS procedures and electrical safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety onboard and in the shipyard.

You will need

  • Holding a valid "A" Grade Electrical License with Mechanic Endorsement (or fitter where permitted)
  • High Risk Works – confined space / working at heights
  • Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner
  • Demonstrating adequate theoretical knowledge
  • Ability to use standard tools and equipment related to the trade
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet set targets
  • First Aid / EWP certification
  • Previous experience in Defense, Government, Marine / Ship Repair, or Heavy Industry
