Resident Engagement Officer

The key objective of this role is to design, implement and maintain a variety of recreational and cultural activities that cater to the diverse needs, interests and preferences of residents in an aged care facility.

These activities are aimed at promoting social interaction, mental stimulation and physical engagement among residents, thereby enhancing their overall quality of life and sense of community. The Resident Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in creating a warm and welcoming environment that fosters friendships and a sense of belonging among residents.

This involves collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to plan and deliver programs that meet the unique needs of each resident. A focus on individualised care ensures that every resident feels valued, respected and empowered to make choices about their own lives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular meetings with residents to understand their needs, preferences and goals
  • Designing and implementing recreational and cultural activities that cater to different ages, abilities and interests
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans that promote physical and emotional well-being
  • Maintaining accurate records of resident participation and progress

A successful applicant will be someone who is passionate about working with older adults, has excellent communication skills, and is able to work independently as part of a team. A relevant qualification such as Cert III in Leisure & Health is highly desirable, or a willingness to complete it within a specified timeframe. Previous experience in an aged care setting, combined with a solid understanding of work health and safety practices, would be highly advantageous for this role.
