Casual Mechanical Technician Level 1: Repair, Maintain and Trouble Shoot Equipment

About the Role

Seeking a Casual Mechanical Technician Level 1 to join our team. As a Mechanical Technician you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance repairs, general repair work, and corrective maintenance on all Terminal equipment.

  • Perform boiler making/welding tasks.
  • Carry out fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs on Straddle Carriers, Reach Stackers, Forklift trucks, Quay cranes, and ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure all repair and service work is carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as PM servicing as required in compliance with PM schedules provided.
  2. Read, understand and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals and technical drawings.
  3. Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluate correctness and completeness of repairs that have been done on the machine.
Requirements
  • Australian or recognized Mechanical trade qualification.
  • Minimum completion of year 10.
  • Disconnect Reconnect restricted electrical license (Preferred).
  • Forklift operator's license.
  • Elevated work platform license.
  • Knowledge of current ports mechanical and electrical crane control systems.
