About the Position
The Space Technology and Industry Institute at Swinburne University is seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to contribute to a cutting-edge project in satellite-based methane detection. This project aims to develop innovative AI-driven methods to identify methane plumes from satellite imagery, supporting Australia's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced researchers and industry partners to design and implement neural network architectures for methane detection, leveraging advanced technologies and expertise. This collaborative effort will not only advance our understanding of environmental challenges but also drive innovation in the field of remote sensing and AI applications.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks and/or satellite image analysis software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A demonstrated commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship

Education
