A Specialist in General Medicine is required to provide comprehensive services within a Hospital in the Home (HITH) service at Lismore Base Hospital and medical oversight for HITH services across the district and the Urgent Care Service, Tweed.
About the Role:This role involves providing clinical leadership, participating in quality improvement activities, and providing training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing contemporary comprehensive Specialist General Medicine services
- Medical oversight for HITH services across the district and the Urgent Care Service, Tweed
- Providing clinical leadership
- Participating in quality improvement activities
- Providing training and education to clinicians
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Physician, or specialist international medical pathways; OR MBA Registration in another physician specialty with appropriate documented advanced training, and/or experience and recency of practice in General Medicine
- Demonstrated current clinical practice relevant to the Hospital in the Home Service at the role delineation of the service
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
- Valid unrestricted drivers license for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment

Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral, Level 5 base hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW. These services include a state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Suite, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit, General Medical and Surgical Wards, Womens Care Unit, Paediatric Unit, Renal Unit, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging department and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Mental Health Inpatient Units, the North Coast Cancer Institute, Pathology, Pain Management Clinic, and Specialist Outpatient Clinics are also located on the Lismore Base Hospital campus.
