As a Custody Settlements Specialist, you will process equity, fixed income and unlisted security settlement activity with stringent controls and resolution of fails & break resolutions.

The Direct Custody and Clearance team processes and settles Australian assets held in custody on behalf of clients. The team acts on client instructions, arranges for the settlement of equity and fixed income trades and deals directly with exchanges or Share Registries to settle transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Settle trades using BaNCS/CHESS/AUSTRACLEAR before market cut-offs
  • Address settlement discrepancies/issues and escalate promptly
  • Investigate and resolve cash & stock reconciliation issues
  • Follow control framework to minimize errors, risks, and losses
  • Resolve client queries and issues
  • Identify and escalate technical issues until resolution
  • Contribute to projects bringing efficiencies into business as usual functions

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years custody and settlements experience in banking or financial services with knowledge of the Australian market
  • Familiarity with custody operations systems including Bancs, SecuritEase/CHESS, Exigo/Austraclear and SWIFT
  • Understanding of the transaction lifecycle in Custody specializing in listed and unlisted securities
  • Experience in developing operational risk control procedures and monitoring
  • Professional communication skills to express information clearly and accurately

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Equity and Fixed Income Settlements experience
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively by meeting tight deadlines and maintaining accuracy
