Fitter-Welder Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Fitter-Welder to join our team. This role involves working with various metal fabrication processes and welding techniques.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technical drawings, precision measuring instruments, and machining equipment operation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine suitable materials, methods, and sequences of operations.
  • Metal Fabrication and Assembly: Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment.
  • Welding Operations: Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to join metal components.
  • Quality Control: Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance, and fit using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.
  • Site Installation: May be required to erect machines and equipment on-site, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

Requirements:

  • AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year' relevant industry experience as a Fitter-Welder.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid White Card (Construction Induction Safety Certificate); high-risk work licenses advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings; experience with precision measuring instruments; ability to operate various welding and machining equipment.
