Job Opportunity: Adabas Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and optimize database environments to ensure high performance and security.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures, to prevent data loss and minimize downtime.
  • Plan and implement upgrades and maintenance of ADABAS and related software products at supported levels to stay up-to-date with the latest technology.
  • Apply patches and emergency fixes to resolve database issues promptly and ensure stability and security.
  • Conduct thorough performance tuning and optimization to improve system efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Utilize database utilities and third-party tools for monitoring and management to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support disaster recovery exercises to ensure database recoverability and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with mainframe systems programmers to address performance and operational issues, providing expertise and guidance as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with equivalent experience considered.
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Adabas Database Administrator, with a strong track record of success.
  • Deep understanding of Adabas database structures, utilities, and performance tuning techniques, with expertise in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of third-party database management and monitoring tools, with experience in implementing and optimizing these solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
