The Clinical Facilitator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the learning experience of nursing students within the clinical environment.
This position involves assisting students to develop essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for effective practice as beginning-level enrolled or registered nurses. The facilitator will act as a professional role model, promoting positive relationships with healthcare agencies and maintaining a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities include overseeing student clinical practice, delivering education and assessment opportunities, and ensuring compliance with clinical placement requirements. Effective communication is crucial in clearly articulating expectations while on clinical placement and ensuring adequate personal orientation to the clinical facility/service.
Liaising with health facility/staff is also vital to provide opportunities for students to meet relevant clinical learning objectives. Communication with the Clinical Placement Coordinator ensures effective experiences for students. Additionally, the facilitator assists students in developing communication, problem-solving, clinical, and professional skills, responding positively to their immediate concerns and needs, and promoting patient safety.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years' broad clinical experience in nursing
- Detailed understanding of relevant professional and accreditation requirements
- Tertiary qualification in nursing or related health discipline
- Current Division 1 Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA with no conditions or notations
- Advanced clinical nursing knowledge and skills
- High level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
