We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Graduate Research Computing Service Support / Software Engineer. This role involves providing support to scientific users of the JASMIN high-performance data analysis facility, across 3 main service areas: compute, storage and the JASMIN community cloud.
Key Responsibilities- Helpdesk: Triage and resolve issues, collaborating with expert colleagues as needed.
- Information: Develop and maintain technical documentation, training materials, and deliver training courses to users.
- Service management: Identify and document issues, develop service improvements, and contribute to team activities.
- Development & maintenance: Contribute to the development of existing or new services and internal tools.
- Achieved or on course to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study.
- Right to live and work in the UK at time of starting employment.
- Understanding of and interest in the work of the JASMIN team, with a desire to make a positive contribution.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Highly self-motivated and able to manage time effectively.
- Able to work effectively as part of a small team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Aptitude for scientific / high-performance computing environments based on Linux.
- Coding skills in Python and bash shell environments.
- Robust software development & deployment practices.
- Ability to communicate and help others in a technical capacity.
