Hiring a Legal Counsel means welcoming a highly skilled professional who can provide expert legal advice and support to our business, ensuring we achieve our objectives while maintaining compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

As a result of the continued growth of our group, we are excited to announce a newly created opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our platform and distribution business, focusing on areas such as superannuation, managed investment schemes, IDPS, IDPS-like products, and managed discretionary accounts.

You will also support the administration, reporting, and technology services provided to other financial product issuers. Additionally, you may be asked to assist our technology businesses, such as data-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to hit the ground running, and work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. They should thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and transactional environment, with a strong drive to get things done.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and Draft Disclosure Documents
  • Review Communications with Advisers and Investors
  • Support Product Documentation and Development
  • Assist with Business Integrations Following Acquisitions
  • Review, Draft, and Negotiate Contracts
  • Provide Advice on Distribution Arrangements
  • Manage FUA Transitions to Our Products or Services
  • Advise on Re-pricing Arrangements
  • Handle Transactional Work
  • Provide Legal Advice on Regulatory Matters

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A recognised Australian legal qualification and eligibility to practice law in New South Wales.
  • At least 4 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience within Superannuation, Platforms, Custody, Investments, Managed Portfolios and Financial Services law & Corporate Law disciplines.
  • A good understanding of the regulation of financial advisers and distribution.
  • Top-tier/mid-tier law firm experience is highly valued.
  • A deep understanding of the Corporations Act, specifically Chapter 7.
  • Excellent influencing skills and an ability to create and build effective working relationships.
  • Strong experience reviewing and drafting contractual documents and legal correspondence.
