Job Summary:
This is a challenging and rewarding role for a skilled Veterinarian and Emergency Clinician to join our team at a Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Queensland. As a key member of our small animal general practice and emergency team, you will provide high-quality clinical services to patients and exceptional teaching and mentorship to final-year veterinary students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patients: Diagnose and treat a wide range of animal diseases and injuries, including traumatic injuries and critical illnesses.
- Surgery and Anaesthesia: Perform routine surgical procedures, including dental, ophthalmic, and sterilisation procedures.
- Consultations: Build strong relationships with clients and patients, providing excellent communication and customer service.
- Diagnostics: Obtain high-quality diagnostic images and provide accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Infection Control: Ensure appropriate clinical hygiene and sterility procedures are followed.
- Mentorship: Provide clinical teaching, mentoring, and support to final-year veterinary students.
- Other: Perform other duties as reasonably required, including participating in continuing professional development activities.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or registerable equivalent.
- Licenses and Memberships: Radiological License with Queensland Health, CPR training, and Certificate IV Trainer & Assessor or other relevant tertiary qualifications in teaching.
- Skills and Experience: Relevant general practice and/or emergency veterinary experience, contemporary knowledge of best practice treatment and effects of therapies and medicine, and experience conducting a wide range of routine surgeries, vaccinations, and health checks.
- Person Specification: Ability to work well under pressure, excellent relationship-building skills, and a compassionate and caring approach to animals and their owners.
What We Offer:
- Salary: Competitive salary package, including up to $133,000 per annum, 11% superannuation, and $2500 CPD per annum.
- Benefits: 5 weeks annual leave, 1 week paid study leave per annum, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
