Job Title

Environmental Noise Policy Specialist

This is a pivotal opportunity to make a lasting impact on environmental health in the city.

As an Environmental Noise Policy Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping noise regulation policies that support sustainable development and enhance the quality of life for citizens.

  • Develop and implement noise regulation policies aligned with legislation, planning schemes, and urban planning goals.
  • Lead scientific noise studies to inform evidence-based policy development, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice on noise and vibration issues across various applications, including development proposals and customer inquiries.
  • Conduct investigations into environmental noise complaints, ensuring consistent regulatory processes.
  • Manage technical equipment and reporting, including calibration, data interpretation, and review of internal and external scientific reports.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree in Science or Engineering relevant to environmental noise, with experience in acoustics, physics, or related fields.
  • Expertise in public and environmental health legislation, guidelines, and Australian Standards specific to environmental noise.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently in regulatory environments, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
