Communications Officer Role

The Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research seeks a skilled Communications Officer to lead the development and delivery of our communication strategy. In this exciting role, you'll manage and moderate our digital channels, shape our social media presence, and drive initiatives that engage, grow and support our membership base.

About the Opportunity
  • Develop and deliver the Centre's communication strategy and plan.
  • Advise the leadership team on initiatives to better communicate research, member news, and engagement projects.
  • Deliver content and support Centre initiatives to position us as a preferred partner for industry practitioners, government agencies, and civil society organisations.
  • Manage and maintain various communication initiatives to a high standard.

Our ideal candidate is a confident communicator with outstanding written and verbal skills, able to adapt their message seamlessly across platforms and audiences. They will be highly organised and focused, balancing competing priorities and tight deadlines with composure while contributing effectively within a small, collaborative team.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications or Marketing, with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training, and expertise.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating technical and research-related communication content for diverse target audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing social media content, managing and growing social media platforms, graphic design, copy writing, photography, video, and video editing and packaging for digital.
  • Experience in media liaison and writing to target media exposure.
