Veterinary Referral Specialist

Animal Referral Hospital seeks an experienced Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Referral Department. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide top-notch nursing care to patients across Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional nursing care to patients, ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
- Support veterinarians and specialists in diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgeries.
- Manage patient admissions, monitoring, and discharge processes, promoting clear communication with the veterinary team and pet owners.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and nursing staff to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up care.
- Educate and support pet owners, providing them with information on their pets’ conditions, treatment options, and care requirements.
- Teach and mentor veterinary students, actively engaging in their training and development during rotations.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting the training and development of junior staff.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) is essential.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a referral or specialist veterinary practice, with experience in Neurology, Internal Medicine, or Oncology preferred.
- Strong technical nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anaesthesia monitoring, and patient care.
- Possess a genuine interest in educating and mentoring veterinary students, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and supportively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, specialists, clients, and other team members.
- Ability to adapt and work efficiently across different departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork and providing the best possible care to our patients.
